I want to introduce a new feature on the blog: the Jar Lunch! It’s like a bag lunch or a bento lunch, but the next big thing is lunch packed in a good ol’ mason jar. I have to microwave my lunch at work, so metal containers won’t work and heating up plastic has me worried. We often simply fill mason jars with leftovers, but sometimes it is fun to come up with a clever jar lunch and make a big batch. Lunch for the whole family is already packed.

My work has appeared in The Red River Review, The Dreamcatcher anthology, Mom-Writers Literary Magazine, The Poet magazine, the Texas Poetry Calendar, the Poetry at Roundtop 10th anniversary compilation, and in the San Antonio Poetry Fair Anthology, Voices Along the River. Two of my short stories have been finalists in Glimmer Train competitions. I was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1990. I attended Texas Tech University then finished at UTSA with a BA in English and a minor in creative writing. I teach secondary English in the Schertz-Cibolo area. I am a member of Gemini Ink of San Antonio and the Writers’ League of Texas based out of Austin. I attend workshops and write fiction and poetry whenever I can.
